Volunteer

FCAC is an exciting place where you can really make a difference! There are many volunteers who are actively involved with the care of the animals and the maintenance of the shelter. Starting on March 6, the shelter will undergo a year and a half renovation and expansion.  During this time, the volunteer program hopes to recruit two or three new volunteers a month but may be limited by the construction. ​

The Brunswick Heritage Museum offers opportunities for volunteers to help clean and organize, to be a greeter, to run sales, be a docent, or help on their train layout. They are also a Presidential Volunteer Service Award entity meaning they can submit any of their volunteers for the Presidential Service Award as long as they have volunteered the required hours (not all of the hours need to be with them either, just some of them). They had two homeschoolers earn the Gold Presidential Service Award last year.​

Age Requirement: Children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Great and Small provides Equine-Assisted Activities and Therapies (EAAT) to children and adults of all ages affected by a range of physical, developmental, emotional, and learning disabilities. Through a supportive and therapeutic engagement with horses we strengthen and empower our riders, helping them develop their full potential. Great and Small are always searching for more helping hands for various activities including working with our program participants, general barn chores, schooling the horses (experienced riders only), and participating in committees/special events.

Living Water operates a 6-stall mobile shower trailer serving our neighbors in need here in the Frederick community. Volunteer opportunities range from helping with check in, keeping tabs on hygiene items being distributed, time keeper, cleaner, and floater. We have slots for all abilities and ages 12 and up. Thanks for your help!

Age Requirement: 12-15 with parent/guardian present; 16-17 with signed consent
