Barefoot University follows the forest school educational philosophy that takes a holistic approach to learning while incorporating STEM, community service, field trips, and nature-based activities. Their communities meet each week and offer nature-based sciences and outdoor skills. Their get togethers are child—directed and play-based risk that build self awareness and confidence which include practical nature activities that are hands-on and also branch off into other subjects of learning to align it all under our yearly rhythm. Their leaders help facilitate the meet-ups, but parents are their child‘s teachers!
Open houses are typically held the week of March 30th which will be listed when and where on our public Facebook group.
Catholic Schoolhouse

Catholic Schoolhouse is a supplemental program designed to help homeschool families enrich their educational experience. They offer a flexible approach to learning inspired by classical elements, presented in a structured environment. Their students study the same topics at all ages creating family unity. The whole family has a place at Catholic Schoolhouse: from the youngest toddlers in our nursery to our rhetoric level scholars.

Four Seasons Secular Co-op (FSSC) is a secular (non-religious), pro-science, LGBTQIA+ inclusive, anti-racist, anti-ableism homeschool cooperative in Frederick, MD. To be a member of Four Seasons Secular Co-Op you must authentically share and respect their values and principles. FSSC is a parent-run non-profit. Their goal is to encourage lifelong learning and cultivate curiosity, empathy, respect, leadership and communication skills in their students and member families. FSSC seeks to provide a safe and respectful family-centered community and support structure that celebrates diversity. They hope to empower families to work collectively to inspire children to become meaningful contributors to the global community. FSSC believes in experiential learning, creativity and exploration.

They have 2 campuses - One in Frederick operating out of Trinity United Methodist Church and the other campus is located in Howard County, MD. FCHC is a 501(c)3 non-profit that has been serving the homeschool community since 2013.

Each week includes core academic classes—Science, History, and Writing & Literature—plus lunch, recess, and two engaging electives. The Wild + Free Southern Frederick group is a bi-weekly hiking group that offers a children's book club and field trips. This is a group for homeschooling children and their mothers. Hikes will be scheduled mainly in Frederick and Montgomery counties but will occasionally be scheduled for surrounding areas.

Wild Sprouts

Wild Sprouts offers homeschool classes for ages 5 through 9 that are taught by a certified elementary school teacher. They offer homeschool co-op classes (including math and reading instruction) as well as homeschool nature enrichment classes.
Their homeschool classes for Fall 2025 are almost completely full or have a waitlist, but they also offer occasional homeschool events.
